Griffin Survivor Cover
by Keith on Nov.28, 2011, under iPad Cases, iPad Covers
If you own an iPad 2 and need to protect it from all kinds of damage from everything from dirt and sand to rain and vibration, then the Griffin Survivor Case is the iPad cover that you need! It meets US Department of Defense Standard 810Fstandards and may even exceed some of them.
Great Design Keeps iPad 2 Safe From Harm
As soon as you open it up you are bound to notice all the layers of protection included in this fine Griffin case. You’ll notice its inner shell that’s made out of a break resistant frame made of polycarbonate. It also has screen protection built right into it, plus it’s completely waterproof! The frame includes a layer of foam that helps to absorb any shock.
The Griffin Survivor case is made of thick silicone and that means it is tough enough to survive just about any fall or drop. Plus, the grainy texture makes it resistant to attracting link and dust as well. It may take you a few minutes to get this cover onto your iPad2, but once you do, it will give you the peace of mind you want as it protects it from harm.
Pros and Con of the Griffin Survivor Cover
This cover does have at least one disadvantage however, the iPhone 4 version blocks the camera and you have to hold the case open to use it. That is a pain, but the iPad2 version was adjusted so that this won’t be a problem in it. The port plugs on it now are hinged and can be kept open by putting them inside of the black port docks. The port docks are a bit hard to open, but you just have to tweak them a little and it’s not that big of an issue.
You are also able to use several kinds of headphone and USB cables without issue of them not working. There is also the advantage of the buttons being well protected by the layer of silicone and still are responsive and easy to push.
One of the advantages of the iPad2 is how thin it is, so you will be happy to know that the Griffin Survivor case doesn’t make it uncomfortable to hold, even though it does add some bulk to the iPad2’s frame. However, one bad thing is that the screen protector is raised right above the iPad screen and that makes it hard to use the touch screen and get it to work at times. I suppose they did it to prevent watermark issues, but it does rather mess up the sensitivity of your iPad touch screen at times.
It has a great stand that makes it possible to clip on easily so you can use the iPad even while it is still in the Griffin Survivor case. Plus it nicely holds the iPad up in at a nice angle to use it and makes it possible for you to not have to hold it in your hands.
All in all, the Griffin Suvivor case is compeltely superior when it comes to protecting your investment into your iPad2. It’s a bit costly since it runs around $80 from the Griffin site, but if you do a search online, you can probably find it cheaper. And besides, you get what you pay for and this case is a winner in protecting your iPad2.
